The Confederação Brasileira de Futebol draws the quarterfinal matchups of the Copa do Brasil 2026 on Tuesday, August 11, raising the possibility of several state rivalry clashes.
Of the eight teams remaining in the knockout tournament, two are from São Paulo, two from Minas Gerais, two from Rio Grande do Sul, one from Rio de Janeiro and one from Bahia. There are no restrictions on which teams can face each other at this stage of the competition.
Possible rivalry matchups
In São Paulo, Palmeiras could meet Santos for a semifinal spot. The two clubs met in the 2015 final, which Palmeiras won.

A similar scenario could play out in Minas Gerais, where Atlético-MG could face Cruzeiro. Atlético-MG won the title in 2014 after beating its rival in the final, though Cruzeiro came out on top in their most recent meeting, in last year's quarterfinals.
Grêmio and Internacional could also meet. The only previous time that happened was in 1992, when Internacional won on penalties.
Teams through to the quarterfinals
Palmeiras, Santos, Vasco, Atlético-MG, Cruzeiro, Grêmio, Internacional and Vitória have all advanced to the quarterfinals.
