Cristiano Ronaldo Marries Georgina Rodriguez in Portugal

Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez married on Tuesday during a civil ceremony held in Cascais, near Lisbon in Portugal. The 41-year-old Portuguese footballer and his 32-year-old partner wed one year after their engagement and ten years after meeting in a Gucci store.

The information was released by Brunswick Group, the agency representing the five-time Ballon d'Or winner. A statement from the player transmitted by the agency said Ronaldo and Rodriguez are now officially husband and wife, adding that the ceremony was a private and intimate moment attended by their five children.

A spokesperson for Brunswick Group specified that Ronaldo requested the statement be released, but said there would be no further information, photographs, or videos. For their 750 million followers, the couple published a photograph on social media of their intertwined hands with their wedding rings visible.

Career and World Cup status

Rodriguez had announced their engagement one year earlier on Instagram, revealing a photograph of their hands and her massive engagement ring. Ronaldo later suggested that their wedding could take place after the 2026 World Cup.

Having previously played for Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus, Ronaldo currently plays for Saudi club Al-Nassr. The Portuguese forward is coming off his sixth participation in a World Cup.

Following Portugal's elimination during the World Cup played this summer, Ronaldo confirmed it was his last World Cup. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner did not specify whether he intends to continue his career with the Portuguese national team.
