The Turkish center, a former Utah Jazz player, published a video showing himself lifting weights shirtless in the gym after applying for the upcoming United States women's basketball draft on August 10, 2026.
Kanter Freedom wrote on the video clip, which has exceeded six million views, that the transition to the WNBA should begin, adding that rules are rules.

Explaining his decision days earlier, Kanter Freedom said that after careful thought and examining current eligibility rules, he officially declared his candidacy for the WNBA draft.
