Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton married Jade Jones at the Indianapolis Marriage License Office on Tuesday, weeks after their wedding celebrations were overshadowed by the death of a close friend.

The couple were joined by a small group of loved ones. Haliburton wore a dark t-shirt and pants while Jones wore a white dress and carried a bouquet of flowers. “It’s (courthouse) official,” Jones wrote on Instagram alongside photographs from outside the license office.

Friend died during bachelorette trip

Last month, Jones’ friend Makenzi Kern died during the bachelorette party in St. Barts at the age of 26. Kern was pronounced dead on June 8, two days after her birthday, while surrounded by friends on a trip to St. Barthelemy Island, according to an online obituary.

TMZ reported at the time that Kern died unexpectedly from health complications, and her family does not suspect foul play or believe her death is related to drugs or alcohol.

Jones paid tribute to Kern on social media, writing that she was forever grateful to have loved someone as truly special as Kern and to have been loved back by her.

From Iowa State to the NBA

Jones and Haliburton met at Iowa State, where he played basketball and she was a cheerleader. The couple began dating in 2019 and Haliburton proposed on campus in 2025. He was drafted by the Sacramento Kings in 2020 before being traded to the Pacers, whom he led to the 2025 NBA Finals. He missed the 2025-26 season after suffering an Achilles injury during the Finals loss to Oklahoma City.
