Paris FC manager Liam Rosenior sparked an on-pitch scuffle with Strasbourg players after celebrating in front of visiting supporters following a 2-1 victory at Stade Jean-Bouin on Saturday.
The 42-year-old English coach engaged in energetic post-match celebrations at the final whistle, pointing his finger, slapping his chest, and raising his arms toward the travelling Strasbourg fans.
Within moments, Strasbourg players walked over to confront Rosenior before members of the Paris FC squad sprinted across the pitch to support their manager. A shoving match quickly broke out between the two teams, leaving Rosenior caught in the middle of the fracas.
Post-match altercation and family claims
Addressing the confrontation after the match, Rosenior stated that his enthusiastic celebrations were prompted by provocation from sections of the Strasbourg fanbase, who he accused of insulting his family.
"There was a small part of the Strasbourg support who disrespected my family," Rosenior said. "I understand the context of what they were saying. My bench were visibly upset."
He emphasized that the disrespect came from only a minority of the away crowd. "I want to make this very clear: a small section," he added. "Strasbourg is a fantastic football club, with great people who work for the club, and great people who support the club."
Rosenior explained that his conduct was a direct response to supporters who had doubted his capabilities during his time managing the team.
"For me to celebrate in that way was a message," Rosenior said. "A message to a group of people who never wanted me to be successful at that club. But I'm not going to say any more than that."
Strasbourg chants and managerial history
In a separate post-match interview with broadcaster Ligue 1+, the former Chelsea boss reiterated his respect for Strasbourg while explaining why the chants triggered his reaction.
"The people in the club who know me know I've always been respectful, I've always wanted the best for that football club," Rosenior said. "I still do want the best for that football club."
"But when I heard the chants, I understand French, I understand the context, the language, that's a step too far," he added. "It's a wonderful football club, it's a great city, it's a club with great tradition, I've always protected those traditions. So for me to celebrate in the way that I did was for many reasons. Many reasons."

Rosenior managed Strasbourg for 18 months prior to taking charge at Chelsea last year before moving to Paris FC.
