Liverpool have confirmed the signing of France winger Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain in a £123 million deal on a five-year contract.
The Premier League side achieved a breakthrough with PSG last week following several weeks of negotiations. The French champions had initially held out for a stubborn £145 million valuation for the 23-year-old forward before an agreement was reached.
Negotiations for the transfer were led by Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes and Fenway Sports Group president Mike Gordon.
Barcola expressed his delight at securing the move to Anfield after the lengthy transfer pursuit concluded successfully.
"It's a great pride to be able to play for Liverpool. I'm very happy," Barcola said. "It took a long time but I'm really happy today to be able to play for Liverpool and all I want is to be on the pitch and be able to play."
The winger emphasized that targeting silverware in English football was a primary ambition behind committing to a long-term contract with the club.
"I hope to achieve very big things. First of all, winning the Premier League - it's one of my biggest dreams in my life," he added. "It is to do that and to stay in this team in the long term - that's why I signed a long contract - and I hope I can do it."
Barcola reaction to Liverpool transfer
Barcola previously experienced playing at Anfield as an opposing player for Paris Saint-Germain, which left a lasting impression on him.
"I had the chance to play twice in this stadium and I saw the atmosphere and how the fans were behind the Liverpool players," Barcola said. "When I knew about Liverpool's interest in me, I didn't ask questions and I knew it was a very big club for me."
Liverpool had identified Barcola as their primary transfer target over recent months. The club sought a high-profile replacement on the wing following Mohamed Salah's departure to Turkish club Trabzonspor.
Before securing Barcola, Liverpool had targeted Yan Diomande. However, their bid for Diomande was rejected, and the player subsequently completed a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
PSG achievements and international record
Barcola developed through the youth academy at French club Lyon before moving to Paris Saint-Germain, where he played for the past three seasons. During his spell in Paris, he scored 39 goals in 152 appearances for PSG.
His time at the Parc des Princes included significant trophy success, winning three Ligue 1 titles and two UEFA Champions League trophies with the reigning French and European champions.
On the international stage, the winger represented France at this summer's World Cup. He scored for his country against England in the tournament's third-place play-off match.
The arrival of Barcola provides a significant recruitment boost for new Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola. Iraola's tenure at Anfield has started with successive 2-2 draws in the Premier League against Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest.
Barcola becomes the latest major addition to the squad during the summer transfer window. He joins defenders Jeremy Jacquet and Victor Munoz, who arrived earlier in the window for £55 million and £34.5 million respectively.
