Manchester United have completed the signing of midfielder Carlos Baleba from Premier League rivals Brighton in a transfer deal worth up to £70 million.
The 22-year-old Cameroon international has signed a five-year contract at Old Trafford with the option to extend it by a further 12 months after agreeing personal terms and passing a medical.
United will pay an initial £65 million fee for Baleba, with up to £5 million more structured in performance add-ons. Brighton have also included a sell-on clause as part of the deal.
Baleba, who has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for more than a year, becomes United's third midfield signing of the summer transfer window. His arrival follows an £85 million outlay on Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans as head coach Michael Carrick looks to bolster his squad.
Speaking after finalizing his move, Baleba expressed his excitement at joining the club despite currently being sidelined with an ankle injury.
"It is an incredible feeling to join the club of my dreams," Baleba said. "Playing at Old Trafford is always special but the opportunity to do so as a Manchester United player will be a real honour."
"I cannot wait to work with Michael Carrick; his experience and knowledge of the game make him the perfect coach to help me to reach the highest level."

Midfield rebuild at Old Trafford
Manchester United director of football Jason Wilcox welcomed the addition to the squad as the club manages key absences in central midfield. Veteran midfielder Casemiro recently departed Old Trafford as a free agent, while Manuel Ugarte has been ruled out for much of the season with a knee ligament injury.

Opening day defeat highlights midfield needs
The signing provides a boost for Manchester United fans following a difficult start to their Premier League season away at Hull City on Saturday.
United suffered a setback on the opening weekend after conceding first-half set-piece goals to Semi Ajayi and Nobel Mendy.
Carrick fielded a central midfield pairing of new signings Santos and Tielemans with Fernandes playing further forward at Hull, but the unit lacked dynamism. United hope Baleba will help address that balance once he recovers from his ankle injury.
