Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount was forced off injured after 20 minutes of a 1-1 pre-season friendly draw against Paris Saint-Germain in Gothenburg. The 27-year-old was replaced by Tyler Fletcher after experiencing an apparent foot problem.
Mount spoke to three members of United's medical staff before heading down the tunnel. However, he was able to jog off when his substitution number was shown and was later seen moving well while boarding the team bus.
United manager Michael Carrick confirmed after the final whistle that taking Mount off was purely precautionary. "He got kicked," Carrick said. "We just wanted to be careful and look after him. We’ve been lucky with injuries so far, so we wanted to be careful."

Carrick's update comes two weeks before United start their new season. After finishing third last term to qualify for the Champions League, United kick off away at newly-promoted Hull, host Ipswich, and travel to Everton before Old Trafford stages the Manchester derby on September 13.
Mount has been one of United's standout performers in pre-season but has struggled with injuries since joining from Chelsea in a £60million deal in 2023. He has made 72 appearances across three seasons at the club, making his highest number of top-flight appearances last term with 23, where he averaged 44 minutes per game.

In Sweden, United fell behind in the second minute when 18-year-old striker Ibrahim Mbaye buried a chance at the far post for Paris Saint-Germain. United levelled the score half an hour later through Bryan Mbeumo.
Amad Diallo won the ball and carried it forward before feeding Mbeumo to the left of the box, where the Cameroonian buried his shot into the far corner. Neither side could find a winner after the break as the match finished 1-1.
