Portugal, the reigning Nations League champions, will host Denmark at the Estadio Municipal de Braga on November 14, in matchday five of Group A4 of the 2026/27 UEFA Nations League, the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) announced on Thursday.
The match kicks off at 19:45 local time on a Saturday and will be the last group-stage game Portugal play on home soil. Three days later, the team closes out the group with an away game against Wales.
The Braga fixture marks Portugal's return to the Estadio Municipal de Braga for the first time in four years.
Braga's history with Denmark
According to the FPF, one result from the stadium's history stands out: a 1-0 win over Denmark in October 2015, settled by a goal from Joao Moutinho. That victory sent Portugal through to Euro 2016, a tournament the national side went on to win in France, the federation noted. Moutinho, one of Portugal's most capped players, went on to play for clubs including Porto, Monaco and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Title defence opens against Wales
Portugal's defence of the trophy, which they also won in 2019, begins at the Estadio Jose Alvalade in Lisbon against Wales on September 24 at 19:45, in the opening round of Group A4.
That game will be the first in charge for new head coach Jorge Jesus, who replaced Spaniard Roberto Martinez after the 2026 World Cup. Jesus, one of Portuguese football's most decorated coaches, has previously led Benfica, Sporting Clube de Portugal and Brazil's Flamengo. Martinez had also managed Belgium before taking charge of Portugal.
Trips to Norway and Denmark
After the Wales match, Jesus takes the team to Norway for a fixture on September 27. In the third round of the group, on October 1, Portugal travel to Denmark. Three days later, on October 4, they return home to face Norway again at the Estadio do Dragao in Porto, before the November 14 meeting with Denmark in Braga and the trip to Wales that closes the group.
How promotion and relegation work
The top two finishers in Group A4 advance to the Nations League quarter-finals. The third-placed team will face one of the second-placed sides from the division below in a play-off for a place in League A, while the fourth-placed team will be relegated to League B.
Portugal won the last edition of the Nations League in 2025.
