PSG Faces Aston Villa in 2026 UEFA Super Cup Clash

Paris Saint-Germain opens its new season against Aston Villa in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Red Bull Arena in Salzburg, Austria, with kickoff at 9 p.m.

The match comes just over two months after PSG's second consecutive Champions League title. PSG also won the first UEFA Super Cup in the club's history last year, beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-2 on penalties, 4-3. Aston Villa qualifies as winner of the Europa League and finished fourth in the Premier League this past season under manager Unai Emery, who coached PSG from 2016 to 2018.

Digne switches sides

Left back Lucas Digne signed with PSG on Sunday, August 9, after four seasons at Aston Villa. He trained with his new teammates on Monday, August 10, at PSG's Campus in Poissy.

PSG also welcomed back several internationals ahead of the match: Morocco's Achraf Hakimi, France's Lucas Hernandez, Desire Doue, Bradley Barcola, Ousmane Dembele and Warren Zaire-Emery, and Spain's world champion Fabian Ruiz. It remains to be seen whether they will be fit enough to start under coach Luis Enrique.

The match, which awards the first trophy of the 2026-2027 season, will be broadcast on Canal+ and Canal+ Foot.
