Real Madrid defeated Malaga 4-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu to secure their third victory in as many La Liga matches.
The team, led by Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho, took initiative from the opening whistle and established a commanding three-goal lead within the first half-hour of play.
First-half surge clears path to victory
Real Madrid dominated possession early on and broke the deadlock in the 19th minute. English midfielder Jude Bellingham created the opening goal through a fine individual effort to give the hosts a 1-0 lead.
Bellingham was involved again just seven minutes later as Real Madrid doubled their advantage. The midfielder pushed forward in search of his second goal of the match in the 26th minute, but the ball was ultimately credited as an own goal by Malaga player Herrero.
French forward Kylian Mbappe extended the cushion to 3-0 in the 30th minute. Following a precise cross from English defender Arnold, Mbappe finished neatly to put the outcome beyond reasonable doubt before the break.
Late strike seals flawless performance
With a three-goal cushion established, Real Madrid managed the tempo of the match as they wished throughout the second half. Bellingham came close to scoring once more in the 55th minute, but his shot struck the post.
The host side added a fourth goal in the 91st minute during stoppage time. Brazilian winger Vinicius provided the assist, setting up Turkish midfielder Arda Guler to finish into an open net and finalize the 4-0 result.
Domestic campaign and Champions League fixtures
The result maintains Real Madrid's perfect record in La Liga, Spain's top domestic football competition, where they have won all three of their opening matches.
In addition to their domestic league campaign, the Spanish giants are preparing for international competition in the UEFA Champions League. Real Madrid will face Greek side AEK in the newly formatted League Phase of Europe's premier club tournament.
