Manchester City midfielder Rodri has informed Real Madrid that he wishes to join Barcelona during the summer transfer window. Spanish champions Barcelona are now in official contact with Manchester City to try to agree a fee, according to reporting from Simon Jones and the Daily Mail Sport team.
Barcelona's initial proposal is understood to be closer to £40million, which is below Manchester City's valuation. Representatives for the 30-year-old said that out of respect to Real Madrid, who were "class in their approach", they informed the club that his preference is to link up with Hansi Flick's squad.

Cristian Romero move
Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid are progressing in their move for Tottenham captain Cristian Romero. The transfer window remains open until September 1 as clubs look to complete signings ahead of next season.
