Toulouse FC agreed a deal with Feyenoord Rotterdam on Saturday, August 29, 2026, to sign Danish striker Casper Tengstedt.
The 26-year-old center-forward will arrive in Haute-Garonne in the coming hours to undergo a medical exam before taking over the vacant number nine shirt at the French Ligue 1 club. Dutch media outlet FR12 reported that the two clubs reached a swift agreement over the weekend for a permanent transfer.
Tengstedt joins Toulouse after a single season with Feyenoord at De Kuip, where he logged 628 minutes of playing time. Facing competition in Rotterdam from Ayase Ueda, Nacho Ferri, and Shaqueel van Persie, the forward was no longer part of head coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst's plans. Prior to choosing Toulouse, he had also drawn interest from Greek club PAOK and American Major League Soccer team Seattle Sounders.
Reunion with manager Jens Berthel Askou
The transfer reunites Tengstedt with Toulouse head coach Jens Berthel Askou, nicknamed JBA. The Scandinavian manager previously coached the forward at Danish side Horsens starting in 2021, where Askou frequently deployed him on both the right and left wings.
During his spell at Horsens between 2020 and 2022, the Herning-born attacker scored 20 goals and provided 10 assists. Askou had been growing impatient for offensive additions ahead of Toulouse's recent 2-0 home defeat against Lyon at the Stadium. Standing 1.84 metres tall and weighing 79 kg, the right-footed forward has earned five caps and scored one goal for the Denmark national Under-21 team. Moving to Ligue 1 will mark the seventh professional league of his career.
Portuguese club Benfica Lisbon recruited Tengstedt from Horsens in 2023. During his spell in Portugal, he featured against Toulouse at the Stadium in February 2024, starting the second leg of a Europa League play-off tie that ended in a 0-0 draw.
He spent the 2024-2025 campaign on loan with Italian Serie A side Hellas Verona, enjoying a productive season with seven goals and two assists in 26 appearances across all competitions. Speaking during his presentation at Feyenoord, Tengstedt stated that he wanted to play for teams that keep possession and create chances. He added that he liked combining with teammates, keeping the ball at his feet, and looking to score, noting that he considered his finishing to be reasonably good.

Toulouse have been active in the summer transfer window following their opening fixture against Lyon. Midfielder Mario Sauer recently left the club to join German side FC Kaiserslautern on a season-long loan that includes an option to purchase.
