Swiss referee Urs Schnyder has been appointed by UEFA to take charge of Poland's match against Romania in the UEFA Nations League on Friday.
The 40-year-old official will be assisted on the touchlines by twin brothers Marco Zuercher and Benjamin Zuercher, with Sven Wolfensberger serving as the fourth official.
Schnyder, who has held a FIFA refereeing license since 2018, has never previously officiated a match involving either the Polish or Romanian national teams.
The UEFA Nations League is a biennial international football competition organised by UEFA, the governing body of European football. National teams compete in tiered divisions, with League B teams contesting promotion to the top division or fighting to avoid relegation.
Relegation struggle in League B
Friday's fixture carries significant importance as both Poland and Romania face the threat of relegation from Division B. Poland enter the contest on a five-match winless streak, having recorded two draws and three defeats in their recent games, including two losses against Sweden.
In their opening group matches, Poland drew 0-0 with Bosnia and Herzegovina before suffering a 1-3 defeat to Sweden. Romania have also struggled, losing 1-2 to Sweden in their opener and following it with a 2-4 defeat against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Sweden currently lead the group standings with six points, while Bosnia and Herzegovina, featuring striker Edin Dzeko, sit two points behind on four. Poland and Romania remain at the bottom of the table, urgently needing points to lift themselves out of danger.
