Vinicius Jr. has renewed his contract with Real Madrid CF until June 30, 2032, bringing months of transfer rumors to an end yesterday. Real Madrid announced the agreement to secure the 26-year-old forward before his previous contract expired in June 2027, preventing him from leaving on a free transfer at zero cost during the next summer transfer window.
Real Madrid defined Vinicius as one of the most important players in one of the most successful eras in club history. Official club details state that he arrived in July 2018 at age 18. Over eight seasons with the team, he has played 375 matches, scored 128 goals, and won 14 titles, including two Champions League trophies, three Club World Cups, two European Super Cups, three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, and three Spanish Super Cups.
Contract details and squad salary scale
Negotiations were not easy, but the extension provides a significant pay raise for the player. The Real Madrid board of directors, led by Florentino Perez, made an unprecedented financial effort to put Vinicius at the peak of the squad wage scale, sharing the top tier with Kylian Mbappe. He becomes the second-highest paid player in the squad behind Mbappe, who receives an annual salary of 31,250,000 euros, or 600,962 net euros per week.
The new agreement sets the fixed salary for Vinicius between 20 million and 22 million net euros per season. His total income could reach 24 million net euros annually if contract variables are met, which equals roughly two million euros per month before commercial deals. The performance variables in his contract include team incentives for winning La Liga and the Champions League, along with individual clauses such as one linked to the Ballon d'Or.
Long-term commitment and buyout clause
Unlike his previous extension signed in 2023 that ran until 2027, Real Madrid and the player's representatives chose a long-term agreement to secure project stability. In addition to the salary raise and a prorated renewal bonus, Real Madrid will keep his release clause set at an unattainable figure of 1 billion euros to deter potential offers from rival clubs.
