(Houston) JT Realmuto hit a decisive home run in 10and inning and the Phillies overcame a 5-0 deficit to beat the Houston Astros 6-5 on Friday in Game 1 of the World Series.
Realmuto also made two runs in the second inning.
Kyle Tucker hit two home runs on his first two hits and the Astros won 5-0 after three innings.
On the first pitch on the second, Tucker hit a long ball beyond right field. That solo attack gave the Astros a 1-0 lead. He returned to the charge in the third, where his three-point hit put the Astros at a 5-0 lead.

Yuli Gurriel came to the plate after Tucker in second and hit a single. After a Chas McCormick single pushed Gurriel to third base, Martin Maldonado allowed the Astros to double their lead. A double game against José Altuve allowed Nola to temporarily limit damage.
The Phillies recovered in the fourth. A Nick Castellanos single allowed Rhys Hoskins to cross home plate, Bryce Harper to reach second base and the Phillies to score their first run.
Alec Bohm then hit a strong double in the left corner of the field that pushed Harper and Castellanos home.
The Phillies picked up where they left off in fifth. Realmuto hit a two-run double – Brandon Marsh and Kyle Schwarber scored in the sequel.
Both clubs were unable to continue their momentum and extra time would have been necessary.
Realmuto was the first Phillies hitter to reach plate in the tenth and left a good impression. His right-field slap gave the Phillies a 6-5 lead.
The Astros came close to scoring their turn at bat in the tenth. However, with two eliminations, Aledmys Diaz could not take advantage of the presence of runners in the second and third and his elimination meant the end of the game.
Justin Verlander, who started the game for the Astros, resigned after five innings. He allowed six hits and five runs on the way.
Verlander, 39, also knocked out five hitters.
Phillies starter Aaron Nola allowed six hits and five runs in four and a third inning.
Before the game, players’ union director Tony Clark said years of inattention on the part of Major League Baseball had contributed to the World Series being played without a single black player born in the United States for the first time since 1950.
The Astros won 19 more games than the Phillies in the regular season and are favorites.
The Texas club is participating in the World Series for the second year in a row. He is participating in the fall classic for the fourth time in six years.
The Phillies are looking to win their first World Series since 2008.
The two clubs will resume the necklace on Saturday in Houston.
