(Chicago) Chicago Cubs executives and right-hand pitcher Jameson Taillon have finalized the final details of a four-year contract worth approximately $68 million.
Monday’s announcement comes nearly two weeks after the two sides reached an interim deal.
Taillon, 31, is coming off a solid campaign with the New York Yankees. In 32 starts and 177 1/3 innings of work, he posted a 14-5 record and a 3.91 ERA.
Additionally, Taillon will be back in the National League Central Division, where he started his Major League career with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Taillon made his Pirates debut in 2016 and went 29-24 overall with a 3.67 ERA in 82 starts spanning four seasons.
Taillon missed the 2020 season due to a second Tommy-John type operation on his right elbow. He was traded to the Yankees in January 2021 for four prospects.
The Cubs finished the 2022 season with a 74-88 record, good for third in the Central Division. They have also won 40 of their last 71 meetings.
During the offseason, the Cubs also added shortstop Dansby Swanson and outfielder Cody Bellinger, who won the 2019 National League Most Valuable Player award with the Los Dodgers.
