(Chicago) Chicago White Sox power hitter Eloy Jimenez is expected to miss two to three weeks of action after injuring his left hamstring while rolling on the pads.

The team placed Jimenez on the 10-day disabled list on Wednesday and called up infielder Jake Burger from his AAA Charlotte club.

Jimenez suffered the injury trying to reach third base after Andrew Vaughn’s seventh-inning double run, which ended 12-3 for the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday.

Jimenez, 26, was 4-for-19 through the first five games of the season.

He hit 31 home runs in his rookie season in 2019, but has played in just 55 games in 2021 after tearing a tendon in his left pectoral muscle while attempting a catch during spring training camp.

He also had surgery on his right hamstring early last season after injuring himself trying to make a throw to first base. It was thus limited to 84 games.
