(Toronto) The Toronto Blue Jays have recalled Quebecer Otto Lopez from their AAA school club in Buffalo.

Lopez is averaging .213/.273/.533 in 127 hits this season at the AAA level, with two doubles, two triples and eight RBIs, as well as two stolen bases.

In his AAA career, Lopez compiled averages of 0.299/0.366/0.774.

Lopez played in a few games for the Jays, hitting six singles in nine hits and driving in three runs.

Lopez’s recall was necessary after Santiago Espinal was placed on the 10-day injured list with a sore right hamstring.
