(Toronto) Kevin Gausman was outstanding in seven innings as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Houston Astros 5-1 on Tuesday.
Gausman struck out 13 batters, tying a personal best.
“I just try to shoot well,” said the right-hander. He had several good kicks with two strikes. »
Victorious in three of the last four outings, Gausman (5-3) gave up one run and four hits, not allowing a walk.
“He’s one of the best pitchers in major league baseball,” said Blue Jays manager John Schneider.
Daulton Varsho, George Springer and Bo Bichette backed him up with homers.
Mauricio Dubon scored on the game’s second drive, but Houston really didn’t offend anymore.
Springer turned the tide with a two-run homer in the third after Kevin Kermaier walked.
Varsho added a long ball in the fourth from a shot just over the fence.

To relieve Gausman, Erik Swanson and Trevor Richards did not allow a hit in the final two innings.
