(Baltimore) Gunnar Henderson hit his first career grand slam, one of four home runs, as the Baltimore Orioles beat the Toronto Blue Jays 11-6 on Tuesday.
The Orioles (42-24) won their fifth straight game and are 18 games over the . 500 mark for the first time since 2016, when they last made the playoffs. Only the Tampa Bay Rays have a better Majors record.
Last week, Henderson hit . 526 with three home runs and six RBIs in five games. After a day off on Monday, he picked up where he left off. He went 3 for 5, including his four-goal slam with the packed trails against Chris Bassitt, which capped a six-run streak in the third inning.
Henderson has scored in each of his last three games.
The Orioles had a 2023-high 17 hits, including two-run home runs by Adam Frazier and Ryan O’Hearn and a solo slap by Aaron Hicks. Three of those long drives came from Bassitt (7-5), who allowed eight runs and 11 hits in three innings.
The win went to Dean Kremer (7-3), who gave up two runs and eight hits in six innings.
Cavan Biggio homered for the Blue Jays, who have lost each of their four games this season to the Orioles.
Back in the Blue Jays lineup, Danny Jansen was batting eighth. The receiver was sidelined with a left groin strain.
Jansen appeared in 36 games this season, hitting six home runs and driving in 26 runs.
The Jays also placed infielder Brandon Belt on the 10-day injured list with soreness in the back of his left thigh. Right-handed reliever Adam Cimber was placed on the paternity list.
