(Toronto) The Toronto Blue Jays placed wide receiver Alejandro Kirk on the 10-day disabled list Monday.
Kirk suffered a laceration to his left hand when he was hit by a pitch in the second inning of Sunday’s 11-7 loss to the Texas Rangers.
Kirk has connected three long passes and has 21 points in 59 games this season.
The Blue Jays took advantage of this personnel move to recall catcher Tyler Heineman and right-hander Trent Thornton from their AAA-level ranch home in Buffalo.
Both players will be part of Toronto’s squad for Monday night’s game in Miami against the Marlins.
Right-hander Bowden Francis was demoted to the AAA level with the Bisons.
