(Chicago) Whit Merrifield hit two home runs as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the White Sox 5-4 Thursday night to win a doubleheader in Chicago.
Merrifield hit two solo home runs, ending the night with four home runs this season.
His first home run made it 1-0 in the second inning.
His second tied the game at 4–4 in the sixth. One finish later, Vladimir Guerrero broke the tie with a one-run double.
Guerrero pushed Bo Bichette, who scored four of the visitors’ 16 goals, into the goal.
Matt Chapman also pulled a gun on the Jays as they clinched their third consecutive win.
Eloy Jimenez hit a two-run home run as Chicago trailed for the fifth time in six games.
The win went to reliever Jay Jackson (1-0) and the save to Nate Pearson – his first in major league baseball.
Prior to Pearson’s arrival, Tim Mayza struck out three of the four batters he faced.
The loss went to reliever Nick Padilla (0-1).

During the Sox’s at-bat, Oscar Colás hit a double-run and scored on a single by Andrew Vaughn.
Jordan Romano (4-4) pitched in 10It isso Thomas Hatch and Yimi Garcia finished the work in 11It is mango.
Lance Lynn has struck out 11 batters in seven innings. He only allowed one hit, a Springer single in the third.
Lynn has 41 strikeouts in his last four matches.
José Berríos also allowed one hit in seven innings, with six batters at bats.
He allowed a single to Elvis Andrus in the third innings.
Also in third, Springer made a brilliant catch as he dove to right field at the expense of Zach Remillard.
Alejandro Kirk pinned Andrus on a steal attempt at second base in the sixth inning.
Toronto will play Detroit on Friday. It will be the return of right-back Alek Manoah, after passing through the minor leagues. He will oppose Dylan Cease.
