(Thunder Bay) Alexane Fournier of Quebec hit five runs in Canada’s 11-7 victory over Australia on Saturday in the Baseball World Cup.
Fournier, 21, hit three singles in the game.
The Maple Leaf representatives quickly built a 4-0 lead in the third, but the Australians scored two runs late in the set and added five in the fifth to take a 7-4 lead.
Canada rallied with three points in the sixth to tie the game before scoring four more points in the seventh.
Allison Schroder pitched four innings, allowing two runs, three hits and four walks. Raine Padgham replaced her for the final three rounds.
It was the third victory for Canada, who beat Mexico 9-1 on Tuesday and Hong Kong 22-3 the next day. Their only defeat came on Thursday, when the Americans won 23-0.
The Canadians now face the South Koreans on Sunday.
