(Anaheim) The game the Cincinnati Reds were scheduled to play against the Los Angeles Angels on Monday night was postponed due to the tropical storm Hillary.

The match will resume on Wednesday, as part of a doubleheader.

The first tropical storm to hit southern California in 84 years dropped several inches of rain in the Los Angeles area on Sunday. The rain had stopped on Monday, but the pitch at Angel Stadium was impassable, according to the club.

The Angels had already moved their scheduled Sunday game against the Tampa Bay Rays forward by 24 hours, another game that turned into a doubleheader.

It is only the fourth time since 1995 that a game has been postponed due to weather conditions at Angel Stadium, including Sunday’s game. In the entire history of the stadium, only 14 games were changed due to rain.

The Angels (61-64) have lost 13 of their last 18 meetings, greatly reducing their chances of making the playoffs at Americano, despite the retention of league favorite Shohei Ohtani.

The postponement means Angels fans will have to wait another day before seeing Mike Trout back in the lineup. The star outfielder has recovered from a broken hand that sidelined him for seven weeks.

This is a very important series for the Reds (64-61) as well who are just one game behind the last series qualifier in the Nationals as they play their next 10 games on the West Coast.
