(New York) Aaron Judge hit three home runs in a game for the first time in his career on Wednesday, leading the New York Yankees to a 9-1 victory over the Washington Nationals.

Judge had a grand slam and two solo long balls as the Yankees snapped a nine-game losing streak.

They scored a point or zero in five of those defeats.

Two hours after GM Brian Cashman used the words “a disaster” to describe the Yankees’ season (61-65), Judge got the ball rolling in the first round against Mackenzie Gore (6-10).

He got his fifth career grand slam in the sixth, then added a cannon shot in the seventh.

The American’s most valuable player last year, Judge is batting . 279 this season with 27 home runs and 54 RBIs.

He set the American single-season home run record last year with 62.

Luis Severino (3-8) has given up just one hit in six and two-thirds innings.

He was 0-4 since defeating the Royals on July 23.

Harrison Bader made a brilliant catch as he dived to center field in the sixth at the expense of Lane Thomas.
