Jansen scores three as Blue Jays beat Nationals

(Toronto) Danny Jansen scored three points as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Washington Nationals 6-3 on Monday.

Jansen hit a solo home run on third, hitting his 16^{It is} circuit in 2023. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had hit a two-run double an inning earlier.

Eight of Toronto’s nine starters shot the ball safely.

Kevin Gausman (10-8) gave up three runs and seven hits in five innings. He had seven strikeouts, including his 200^{It is} of the season.

Two relievers linked to Jordan Hicks, who scored a 12^{It is} rescue.

Washington struck early: Gausman’s first kick became a single by CJ Abrams, who then stole second base. He struck out a spot later on a Joey Meneses single.

Josiah Gray (7-11) allowed four runs, four hits and four walks while being chased after two innings.

George Springer tied the game 1-1 with a single before the 26th^{It is} double Guerrero’s season. Davis Schneider completed the advance later in second with a single, producing a 12^{It is} point in 12 major league games.

On Monday morning, the Blue Jays placed third baseman Matt Chapman on the 10-day disabled list with a sprained middle finger on his right hand.
