The Torontonians were eliminated by the Minnesota Twins in a series between teams called up from the American League last week. It was the third time in four years that the Blue Jays were defeated in the first round.

The Canadian team qualified for the playoffs on the penultimate day of the regular calendar. The Blue Jays were the American’s sixth seed, having acquired the third and final bye granted to drafted teams.
Atkins held his position with the Blue Jays for nearly eight years.
He led the Blue Jays to the American Championship Series in 2016 before beginning a rebuild that continued through the conclusion of the 2019 campaign.
Toronto reached the playoffs during the coronavirus pandemic-shortened 2020 season.
The Blue Jays have lost their last seven playoff games, a streak that dates back to the 2016 AL Championship Series. They have not won the World Series since 1993.
