(Milwaukee) Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Brandon Woodruff could miss the 2024 season due to surgery he underwent on Friday on the anterior capsule of his right shoulder.
According to the Brewers, Woodruff will miss most or all of next season. This injury prevented him from participating in his team’s first-round series against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Texas Rangers doctor Keith Meister performed the procedure in Arlington, Texas.
Woodruff’s injury was disclosed on October 2 by the Brewers. He previously missed four months of the season with another shoulder injury. He made two appearances before his name was placed on the injured list. Returning in August, he made nine appearances before being injured again.
When he was available, he was excellent: a 5-1 record and a 2.28 ERA with 74 strikeouts in 67 innings.
At age 30, Woodruff earned $10.8 million this season. He is arbitration eligible and could become a free agent after next season. He is 46-26 and has a 3.10 ERA in seven seasons in Milwaukee.
