Frank Howard, who hit 382 home runs and was a four-time All-Star during a long career that included a World Series victory with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1963, has died. He was 87 years old.
A Washington Nationals spokesman said the team was informed of Howard’s death by his family on Monday. The cause of death was not specified.
Howard played seven seasons with the American League’s Washington Senators after being named National League Rookie of the Year with the Dodgers in 1960. Three years later, he helped lead them to the World Series.

He was playing with the Senators when the club moved to Texas and became the Rangers. Howard concluded his career with the Detroit Tigers.
Howard appeared in 1,895 regular season games and three playoff games between 1958 and 1973. He led the American League in home runs in 1968 and 1970.
