(New York) The World Series passed quickly and it wasn’t just an impression.
Matches resolved in nine sets (four of five) lasted an average of three hours and one minute.
This is the fastest time since 1996, according to the Elias statistics office.
The recently concluded series was the first since the advent of the pitcher’s clock. There were also larger cushions and limits for special defenses.
For the series overall, nine-inning games lasted an average of three hours and two minutes, compared to three hours and 23 minutes last year and three hours and 37 minutes in 2021.
During the regular season, the average length of two hours and 40 minutes was the shortest since 1985.
Only one game in the Fall Classic lasted more than four hours, the first, where Texas defeated Arizona in 11 innings.
That doesn’t mean the viewers were there: this World Series was the least watched in history, with an average of 9.11 million people in front of the screen.
