(New York) Dylan Cease will have to wait until 2046 to receive the final payment on his seven-year, $210 million contract with the Toronto Blue Jays, as an amount of $64 million will be deferred.

The right-hander, who turns 30 on Dec. 28, will receive a $23 million signing bonus on Jan. 15, according to contract details obtained Wednesday by The Associated Press.

The top scorer will receive 22 million next year, 30 million in 2027, 29 million in 2029, 28 million in 2029, 27 million in 2030, 26 million in 2031 and 25 million in 2032.

Deferred payments will be due every 1er November, from 2033 to 2046, with 10 million deducted from next year’s salary and 9 million per year until the end of the contract. Cease will receive 5 million in 2033 and 2034, then 4.5 million per year from 2035 to 2046.

He has a limited no-trade clause that allows him to block any trades without his consent for eight teams.

Cease went 8-12 with a 4.55 ERA last season with the San Diego Padres. He recorded 215 strikeouts and allowed 71 walks in 168 innings of work.

He spent his first five seasons with the Chicago White Sox, boasting a 14–8 record and 2.20 ERA as of 2021, despite leading the major leagues in walks. He finished second in the American Cy Young Trophy voting.

Cease has a career record of 65-58 in 188 games. He has a 3.88 ERA with 1,231 strikeouts.

The Blue Jays won this year’s East American title for the first time since 2015 and came within two games of winning their first World Series since 1993, losing 5-4 in 11and inning in Game 7 against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
