Technically, it was referee Tanya Millette’s second day on the job in the Frontier League, as she was automatically on third base for Friday night’s game between New York and Quebec. Due to the Russell Martin tribute night, her presence went curiously unnoticed. She, however, became the first woman to referee a regular season game in the league. She returned to work Saturday night for the Capitals’ 8-7 victory over the Boulders in front of 2,774 spectators gathered at the Stade Canac.

The Saint-Jérôme native was pleasantly surprised to receive the league’s request to replace Officer Kirk Branin at the start of the series.
