Raimel Tapia scored the winning run on a single Teoscar Hernandez in 10and inning on Saturday, allowing the Toronto Blue Jays to win 6-5 over the Kansas City Royals.

Hernandez hit a high ball just beyond the reach of shortstop Bobby Witt on his right.

Tapia glided to home plate in style, filling a huge crowd of 40,135 at the Rogers Center with joy.

It was the Jays’ fourth consecutive hit in 10and mango. Toronto came in to hit 5-3 after a Vinnie Pasquantino two-run long ball at the top of the inning.

Vladimir Guerrero kicked off the comeback with a double point – after a dubious second call on a high inside shot.

Tapia evened the score by hitting the ball through the mound.

Bo Bichette added a single, then Hernandez drove a 43and point this season.

“I was confident the guys would have good hits,” Hernandez said.

Guerrero showed some frustration after the second take.

“He doesn’t show his emotions that often,” said Blue Jays manager John Schneider. It seems that in this case it was a good thing. »

The loss went to Joel Payamps (2-3), the gain to Jordan Romano (3-2).

Guerrero had three of the winners’ 12 hits, including 15and Double.

Kansas City took a 5-3 lead in the fourth with a triple run from Ryan O’Hearn and a sacrificial fly from Nate Eaton.

The Jays tied the game on their next inning at bat, thanks to a two-run single from George Springer.

Royals manager Mike Matheny was ejected in the sixth after protesting an obstruction call on the catcher.

The sequence involved Michael Massey, who would have been naked in Danny Jansen’s work, on a pitch for second base. A former high-caliber catcher, Matheny had a hard time digesting the decision.

“I think it was a bad decision at a really bad time in the game,” Matheny said. It’s a matter of judgment, so there’s nothing we can do about it, but it’s deplorable. »

The starting pitchers on Sunday will be Kris Bubic and Jose Berrios.
