Ainars BAGATSKIS: “Ukraine played terrible basketball at the beginning of the game”
Ukraine national team coach Ainart Bagatskis predicted a 74:73 victory against Estonia in the EuroBasket 2nd round match. The Ukrainian team caught their opponent throughout the match and only managed to take the lead in the end.
“Every opponent looks different. Yesterday we played Great Britain and everything could have seemed easy for us, a big point advantage. Now everything was different. Estonia knows how to play basketball. To be honest, we played terrible basketball at the beginning of the game. The ball is too easy. They lost, they didn’t take their shot.”
“Then the situation improved, we realized we had problems and we fixed it. And for a moment there was really high quality basketball, very accurate and disciplined. But the opponent knows very well what to do. We can say that we were lucky in one place, but we showed that we are one team.”
“The most important thing is that we win,” Bagatskis said.
Ukraine won against Great Britain and Estonia at the start of the tournament.
