“Prize money is, of course, good, but we just love to win.” Sisters Frolkina about the bronze of the Spartakiad in basketball
Olga and Evgenia Frolkin, who became bronze medalists of the Spartakiad of the strongest basketball players, told Match TV that the prize money was not the main motivation for participating in the tournament, and also admitted that it was morally difficult to tune in to the bronze match after losing in the semifinals.
In the bronze medal match of the women’s basketball tournament of the Spartakiad, the team of the Kursk region, for which the sisters played, on Monday in Moscow defeated the team of the Moscow region – 78:69. Gold went to the team of Moscow, which defeated the team of the Sverdlovsk region in the final (74:54).
– After today’s final, Anna Leshkovtseva and Anastasia Logunova will each have two medals of the Spartakiad – both in classical basketball and in 3×3. Why don’t you?
“But we don’t even know!” We weren’t even asked. The Kursk region did not participate in the Spartakiad, and, perhaps, could not enter the team. Although we would love to play. We missed 3×3 basketball very much,” the sisters told the Match TV correspondent.
– The match for bronze always has to be played against the backdrop of disappointment from the semi-finals. How does it feel?
– Much better today! We are very happy,” said Evgenia Frolkina.
– Yesterday we were upset, of course. Yes, indeed, it was not easy mentally to get together for one more match. But now, finally, we feel joy and relief,” Olga added.
– For you, the Spartakiad is more like just another tournament or an opportunity to compete for prize money?
“Of course, we knew about the cash prize…” Olga Frolkina said.
“…That’s good, of course. But first of all, we love to win. For the team and for ourselves, – said Evgenia.
– The start of the club season is ahead, Dynamo Kursk and I are actively preparing for it and we were glad to finally play basketball. And the prize is a nice bonus,” says Olga Frolkina.
– Very pleasant! Evgenia added.
