Basketball player of the Moscow national team Maria Krymova, after defeating the Sverdlovsk region (74:54) in the finals of the All-Russian sports contest, told Match TV about the secrets of preparation and high performance.
In the match for gold, the 21-year-old basketball player brought the capital team 23 points.
Is this your best match as an adult?
– I think yes. In the fourth quarter, until the very end, I thought: “What if we miss it?” Here it is, the gold medal, it’s already close, but until the last minutes I was afraid that if we relax, now we’ll lose everything. But no, we are great. The team gathered in a big break and snatched victory in the final. I’m shocked!
– A completely different team from Moscow entered the second half. What changed?
“We had some recession. Probably, fatigue has accumulated during the tournament.
– How do you explain your overperformance?
Everything they give me, I throw away. Hope I keep getting in.
– You were included in the symbolic five of the tournament. Did you expect?
– Rather, yes. But this is the first such award for me at a big tournament. I will treasure her very much.
– Everyone who attended matches in Krylatskoye personally could see your pre-match warm-up: dribbling with two balls and transferring between hands. Based on the results, does it help?
– Yes! Thanks to the individual coach Vasily Prokofiev, who came to our club, to the men’s team. This is a strong specialist, we have recently been working with him, but I really like everything. And these exercises really help to tune in to the game: dribbling, passing … Everything I need in a match, I train before it starts. And then it becomes easier to apply all this on the site.
– Today you surprised everyone, especially your rivals …
– She’s in shock!
Have you been underestimated? Aren’t you afraid that this “won’t work” anymore?
– I think, yes, underestimated. Not me, but the whole team. Hopefully it won’t happen again and we will be taken seriously.
– In the summer you first participated in the gathering of the national team. How do you like this experience?
– A very unexpected challenge. I understand that this gathering was not for the main team and was more dedicated to viewing candidates. Of course, there was not enough time to get used to the players and the coach. But I liked everything, both the work and the atmosphere. If they call again – I’m ready for everything.
