Greece – Ukraine. Prediction and announcement for EuroBasket match

The Greece-Ukraine meeting will be held in Milan on Tuesday, September 6th. The fight begins at 18:00 Kyiv time. The match will be broadcast live on Xsport TV channel.

Less than a day after the tough match against Italy, our national team will have to pass an even more difficult test in the current EuroBasket. Today the blue-yellows will face the Greek national team, which is seen by the vast majority of fans and experts as one of the main candidates for victory in the tournament.

The Greek team has a solid track record of performance in continental forums. Already in 1949 at the first European Championship for themselves, the Hellenes won a bronze medal, but the next success had to wait for a very long time. They came in the late 80’s, when Nikos Gallis’ star shone all over Europe. One of the continent’s best basketball players of his generation led Greece to the 1987 EuroBasket gold and silver medals at the tournament two years later. Greek fans had to wait for the next successes before the emergence of a new and very strong generation of players. And it was founded in the mid-2000s. Then the Greek national team with such masters as Dimitrios Diamantidis, Vassilis Spanoulis, Theodoras Papaloukas and others won EuroBasket 2005 and finished second in the next World Championship 2006 knocking out the USA team in the semifinals with LeBron James, Chris Paul, Duane Wade, Chris Bosh and other NBA stars are on the roster. This generation of players also brought bronze medals to their countries in EuroBasket 2009.

And now Greece has created a new team, serious and hungry for victories, which may be inferior to its predecessors in terms of overall skill level, but has a true megastar of world basketball in the person of Giannis Antetokounmpo. will be supported by a galaxy of talented artists.

The full roster of the Greek national team in the tournament is as follows:

advocates: Kostas Sloukas, Michalis Luntzis, Yannulis Larentzakis (all – Olympiakos), Nick Calathes (Fenerbahce, Turkey), Tyler Dorsey (Dallas Mavericks, NBA)

Striker: Giannis Mendeokunmpo, Thanasis Perakendeokunmpo (both Milwaukee Bucks, NBA), Dimitrios Agravanis (Promiteas), Kostas Perakendeokunmpo (Asvel, France), Giannis Papapetrou (Partizan, Serbia), Kostas Papapicolaou (Olympiacos )

Centre: Georgios Papayannis (Panathinaikos)

Giannis, whose talents and achievements are known to all basketball fans, as well as European stars Nick Calathes, Kostas Sloukas, Kostas Papanikolaou and Georgios Papayannis pose a real threat to the opponents. The first EuroBasket matches showed that Dimitrios Agravanis fit in very well and is the most important link of the team. And I would like to dwell separately on the person of the naturalized American Tyler Dorsey. The former Olympiakos player did so well last season that he was promoted to the NBA this summer and will now play for the Dallas Mavericks. In the Greek national team, Dorsey is one of the key players, second only to Giannis in his role in the team. The presence of three Antetokounbo brothers simultaneously in the composition is also noteworthy.

Greece started their current European Championship with a tough match against Croatia. After a very successful first half, the Greeks performed much worse in the second part of the game, but with the help of Giannis’ skill and his partners they finally did their job. The Greeks opened the tournament with a win – 89:85. The second match against Italy was also difficult. Again, a tense ending, and the key word in it was uttered by Tyler Dorsey, who hit the hardest and most important three-pointer into the clutch. Another victory for the wards of Dimitris Itoudis by four points – 85:81. In the third game against Great Britain, the Hellenes were obviously not nervous. Giannis never entered the court, but this did not prevent them from achieving a confident victory – 93:77.

At EuroBasket 2022, Greece’s most prolific player is quite logically Giannis Antetokounmpo. He averaged 26 points + 11 rebounds per game in his first two games against Croatia and Italy. Next up are Tyler Dorsey (18.3 points in three games) and Kostas Sloukas (11.3 points in three games).

Fans in Ukraine were waiting for today’s match long before the tournament started. It’s very interesting to see how our team will fare against one of the main contenders for the medal in general and a major NBA star in particular. Ainars Bagatskis’ team will definitely fail in the next meeting, but it was the same in the match against Italy yesterday. It will be tough, but the blue-and-yellow team in this tournament has not been disappointed yet.

Forbes named the most valuable sports team of 2025

Version Forbes announced its annual ranking of the world’s most expensive sports teams.

NFL franchise Dallas Cowboys, estimated to be worth $13 billion, has led the pack for the ninth year in a row.

While NBA Golden State Warriors ranked second with a valuation of $11 billion, another representative of American football, Los Angeles Rams (10.5 billion), was in the top three.

The top 10, as last year, includes only American teams from the NFL and NBA. There are seven NFL clubs in the top 10 overall, which Forbes analysts attribute to the league’s large-scale television contracts.

Among football clubs, Real Madrid remains the most expensive – the Spanish giant ranked only 20th with a value of $6.75 billion.

Also in the top 50 are Manchester United (24th, 6.6 billion), Barcelona (42nd, 5.65 billion) and Liverpool (48th, 5.4 billion). In total, only four football clubs are represented in the top 50 rankings.

The coach of the Super League club threatened the team with a squad change

The coach of the Super League club threatened the team with a squad change

On December 20-21, Niko-Basket lost two home matches to Dnepr and Zaporozhye in the eighth round of the Super League and therefore finished the calendar year in 9th place in the standings with 4 wins in 14 matches.

Head coach of the team after the defeat of Zaporozhye (67:78) Valentin Berestnev He listed the reasons for the team’s unsuccessful results as follows:

“Counting the first, third and fourth quarters, we won by one point each. We lost the entire game in the second quarter. We had a 7-point lead in the second quarter, but we finished with minus 9. We lost the fight, lost the rebounds, made childish mistakes. This caused the opponent to get over the shock of being behind 12:19 and the game turned in another direction.

We could not find a leader who could do what Lovings and Lishchina did. Eisa scored almost 30 points per game, surpassing our fourth point.

I would like to thank our fans who supported us until the end. They said warm and kind words to us after the match. This is our first year playing in the Super League. Most of the players have no experience of playing in the Super League: Max (Grischuk), Vitaly (Volodin), Bodya (Likhoy). Zaitsev, Safonov and Garbar have experience. Kabanov has little experience. This is a difficult season for them, which will show who will advance to the Super League level and who will not.

Therefore, I would like to thank our fans once again. There were two alarms today. Yesterday we finished the match three hours later than planned. Despite this, people stayed and supported us. We are very grateful for this support.

We train six times a week, twice a day to improve our game. I believe that we will overcome this situation and have a team that will compete for Super League awards, become a strong middle team and beat everyone at home, just like 10-15 years ago.

Most of the guys have no experience, so mistakes are made. Not technical, tactical. There is a lack of a leader who will take responsibility in difficult times. Now we are looking for such a player in the team. If we can’t find it, we will face three foreign players like most other teams. If our audience likes it.”
