Head coach of the Italian national team: “Physically, the Ukrainians killed us”

“We played without energy, a little tired. We spent a lot of energy especially mentally in the Greece game. So after two days it was not easy to play such a difficult game mentally. Physically, they killed us. But this is European basketball, EuroBasket, you play every day, so it’s always hard.

I must also say that Ukraine played well. They played really amazing. They scored 50% three-pointers in the first half. It must have been a lot easier for them because they won two games and entered the game without much pressure. But still congratulations. They play under more pressure than anyone else in the world, for very different reasons. Congratulations to Bagatskis and all the players. “All their countries should be proud of this basketball team,” said Gianmarco Pozzecco.
