EuroBasket 2022. Ukraine v Poland: predictions, favorites and broadcast

September 11. 13.00 Berlin. Arena Berlin.
Broadcast – XSport TV channel, XSPORT YouTube channel

The Ukrainian national team will play in the EuroBasket playoffs. Bagatskis’ team advanced to the 1/8 finals from second place in the group behind Greece with the outstanding Giannis. And this result is already a clear victory for the Ukrainians. After the disastrous qualifying matches for the World Cup for us, there was little hope that Ukraine would be reborn and show its game at the European Championships. But in the end, the Ukrainians paid the price: they won forced victories against foreigners (although we were obviously lucky in our match against Estonia) and surprised Italy in front of the home stands. Svyatoslav Mikhailyuk became Ukraine’s MVP at this stage of the tournament. Svyat, who finally started to do the job expected of him, started to collect an average of 20 points per game (excluding Croatia) and a total of 90 points in the group. Len got used to European basketball and of course Sanon gave a predictable result. In general, the Ukrainian team was included in this group, and in each match there were sections that we can be proud of.

Of course, we can say that the Croatians themselves do not want to take the second place in the group, anticipating the quarter-finals against Slovenia and considering Doncic’s records, but after rejecting these conspiracy theories, you should be happy with the result. from our men. Moreover, they had the opportunity to compete with Poland, one of the most balanced and predictable teams of the tournament, in the 1/8 final.

Parimatch Ukraine, partner of the Ukrainian national basketball team and the first legal bookmaker, predicts that we will enter the quarterfinals of the EuroBasket. The coefficient that the Ukrainians will win in the regular time is 1.70, the success of the Poles is 2.46. It is unlikely that regular time will end in a draw, the chances of such an outcome are 12.50 to 1. But even if the match goes to overtime, Ukraine should take it on their own, a chance for the “yellow-blue” to win. In overtime, it’s 2.35 vs 1.63 for the success of the opponents.

Ukraine and Poland met in a training camp in Istanbul in July. Then, in the friendly tournament, the Ukrainians beat the Poles with +29 points. In the August window, the Poles played in the qualifiers for the next Euro as they failed to advance to the second stage of the World Cup selection, losing -3 points to the Croats in a very tense duel. Already at the EuroBasket itself, the Poles first defeated the Czechs, then devastatingly lost to the Finns, and then again confidently won against Israel. The match against the Netherlands also took place on swings, which the Poles almost miraculously pulled out. In fact, the Polish national team is quite a strong team, it has good defense, but it is not always stable. And obviously the Poles are a team that Ukraine is ready and can beat.

Everything is in the hands of Ainars Bagatskis’ men now. Ukraine has a chance to enter the top 8 teams in Europe. Get sick and recharge on your own with Parimatch Ukraine!

PLEKHANOV: “There are also a few points I would like to point out”

Head coach of “Kharkov Falcons” Valery Plekhanov He summarized the team’s 2025 results and talked about the preparations for the continuation of the season:

“Summing up the results of the calendar year, I want to congratulate all our fans on the upcoming New Year and Merry Christmas, wish our favorite team peace and good victories! “Kharkov Falcons” are the first players of this Super League season, so second place at the moment is a good result.

There are a few points we would like to emphasize separately. First of all, seven players from last season’s active squad won the Premier League together, but five of them never played in the Super League. Therefore, the experience they gained in the first half of this season is almost priceless. Secondly, Kharkiv Falcons are one of the two champion teams that did not play a single match at home. It’s very difficult when you’re not playing for your fans, you’re training in one gym, and you’re playing in a different gym every time, even on home tours. In these conditions, 4 defeats in 13 matches is a good result.

One of the most negative moments of this year was not being able to participate in the last four of the Ukrainian Cup. Unfortunately, we were a little unlucky in the draw. After an emotionally difficult and physically exhausting match with Krivbass, we did not have enough strength for the next match against Kiev-Basket in the quarter-finals. Unfortunately, our performances in the cup are over, but now we will be able to focus all our efforts on the championship.

Our main problem now is injuries. We have five injured players, three of whom have serious injuries that require a long recovery period. We’re about to get off to a very tough start to the new calendar season because the Falcons will be playing basketball six weekends in a row, which means six road trips with no rest time. If we could count on all twelve players in the squad at the beginning of the season, there will no longer be such a rotation. Therefore, all the responsibility and burden will fall on the players in the rankings. I hope they get over their injuries in the new year, recover from their injuries as soon as possible, return to work and help their beloved club properly represent Kharkiv in the Super League.

Despite the holidays, we have training scheduled almost seven days a week. “I really hope that by January 10 we will be a combat-ready team that can solve serious problems.”
