Spain – France. Prediction and announcement for EuroBasket final
The Spain-France meeting will be held in Berlin on Sunday, September 18. The fight starts at 21:30 Kyiv time. The match will be broadcast live on Xsport TV channel.
After two and a half weeks of interesting basketball, sensations and brilliant performances, EuroBasket 2022 has reached its climax. The new owner of the continental crown will be announced tonight and the national teams of Spain and France will play.
This rivalry can be safely called a classic on the European basketball map. The national teams of these two countries intersect with enviable regularity in the decisive matches of the continental forums, and the fights between them are almost always distinguished by uncompromising and tough fighting.
Suffice it to say that from the last five EuroBaskets, the French and Spaniards have faced each other four times at various stages of the playoffs, during which their personal match has scored 3:1 in favor of Spain. At the 2009 European Championships in Poland, “Furia Rocha” did not leave a stone behind in the quarterfinals – 86:66. In 2011, as in the current EuroBasket, the teams met in the final and ended with a score of 98:85 in favor of the Pyrenees. In 2013, on the way to their only title on the continent, the “tricolors” in the semifinals avenged Spain for their past failures – 75:72. But already at the next EuroBasket 2015, the Spaniards beat the French in overtime, again in the 1/2 final stage – 80:75.
All Sports All Emotions. Eurobasket-2013. Spain – France
Also, the fact that the Spanish national team will take part for the fifth time in the final match of the continental championship in the last seven tournaments cannot be ignored. And in total, the Pyrenees have won nine European Championship finals so far, three of which have resulted in victories and the Spaniards have been defeated six times. Also, the last three people who made it to the final just won (2009, 2011, 2015). For the French, this will be the third EuroBasket final. In 2011, they lost to the Spanish national team as mentioned above, and in 2013 they won their only championship, beating the Lithuanian national team.
And here is a new series in the confrontation of sworn opponents. The French and Spaniards approach him after completely different semi-finals.
Spain
The Spaniards had a tough fight with the German national team. Entering the end of the third quarter by ten points, the wards of Italian head coach Sergio Scariolo managed to turn the tide of the match and “put an obstacle” in front of the home teams on the way to the final. tournament. It is worth noting that this match was the third of three for the Pyrenees in the playoff stage, where Spain regained a double-digit lead during the meeting and continued.
fiba.basketball
For the Spaniards, the European championship will be much closer if their big man manages to impose a competitive fight on the front lines of the French and especially their leader Rudy Gobert, but Gershon Yabusele de Furies could add a lot of trouble to Roja. But that will take a lot of effort from the Hernangomes brothers and Usman Garuba as his average double-double with Rudy Gobert (13.6 points + 10.3 rebounds) during the tournament speaks for itself.
France
Tricolors did not repeat the mistakes of the Slovenes, treated the Poles with all seriousness and solved all their problems before the big break, missing from the main sensation of the tournament by only eighteen points in their rings.
A crucial task for the French in the final will be the tightest guard and minimizing the impact on the outcome of Spanish playmaker Lorenzo Brown. It was the naturalized American who largely won the match against Germany in the semi-finals (29 points + 6 assists). And an average of 15.4 points + 7.1 assists during the tournament looks very solid.
***
The upcoming finale promises not to be the most spectacular. And this is logical, because both Spain and France play such basketball, in which, in many respects, the main role is assigned to neutralize the strong qualities of their opponents, and only then the emphasis is placed on their game advantages. However, both teams have masters of a single moment and top performers to grace the decisive meeting.
In any case, the final duel is awaited with great interest. It should become a kind of icing on the cake of a very tasty and interesting EuroBasket-2022. The opponents are approximately equal, and the confrontation will be more interesting. We would like to suggest that the Spanish championship DNA will make itself felt at a crucial moment and close to midnight the trophy of the winners of the tournament will be lifted above their heads by their amazing captain Rudy Fernandez.

PLEKHANOV: “There are also a few points I would like to point out”
Head coach of “Kharkov Falcons” Valery Plekhanov He summarized the team’s 2025 results and talked about the preparations for the continuation of the season:
“Summing up the results of the calendar year, I want to congratulate all our fans on the upcoming New Year and Merry Christmas, wish our favorite team peace and good victories! “Kharkov Falcons” are the first players of this Super League season, so second place at the moment is a good result.
There are a few points we would like to emphasize separately. First of all, seven players from last season’s active squad won the Premier League together, but five of them never played in the Super League. Therefore, the experience they gained in the first half of this season is almost priceless. Secondly, Kharkiv Falcons are one of the two champion teams that did not play a single match at home. It’s very difficult when you’re not playing for your fans, you’re training in one gym, and you’re playing in a different gym every time, even on home tours. In these conditions, 4 defeats in 13 matches is a good result.
One of the most negative moments of this year was not being able to participate in the last four of the Ukrainian Cup. Unfortunately, we were a little unlucky in the draw. After an emotionally difficult and physically exhausting match with Krivbass, we did not have enough strength for the next match against Kiev-Basket in the quarter-finals. Unfortunately, our performances in the cup are over, but now we will be able to focus all our efforts on the championship.
Our main problem now is injuries. We have five injured players, three of whom have serious injuries that require a long recovery period. We’re about to get off to a very tough start to the new calendar season because the Falcons will be playing basketball six weekends in a row, which means six road trips with no rest time. If we could count on all twelve players in the squad at the beginning of the season, there will no longer be such a rotation. Therefore, all the responsibility and burden will fall on the players in the rankings. I hope they get over their injuries in the new year, recover from their injuries as soon as possible, return to work and help their beloved club properly represent Kharkiv in the Super League.
Despite the holidays, we have training scheduled almost seven days a week. “I really hope that by January 10 we will be a combat-ready team that can solve serious problems.”
