Fotis Katsikaris has been fired by Unicaja Malaga
A year after his hiring, Unicaja Malaga announced the sacking of Fotis Katsikaris.
At the age of 54, Fotis Katsikaris has been looking for the next stage in his career since Sunday afternoon (February 6th), when Malaga announced his dismissal.
The Greek coach left Unicaja with a record of 7-11 in the Spanish Championship and 5-3 in the Basketball Champions League, with the club stating that “It was decided that a change on the bench was necessary to change the course of the team“.
Katsikaris had taken over Malaga on January 21, 2021 while in the past he worked for AEK, Dinamo St. Petersburg, Valencia, Aris, Bilbao, the national teams of Russia and Greece, Murcia, Lokomotiv Kuban, Tenerife in Gran Canaria and the Utah Jazz as a member of Quinn Snyder’s team.
