Ionikos announced the acquisition of Vangelis Mantzaris
Vangelis Mantzaris (32, 1.96m) is now a player at Ionikos, while Nikaio announced his takeover on a one-year deal.
Vangelis Mantzaris (32 years, 1.96 meters) is now part of the Ionikos squad. The news was broken by Nicaea, who announced the acquisition of the veteran Guardian on a one-year contract, expanding the experience of their Guardian line.
Mantzaris is this year’s 6th acquisition by Ionikos, who have also announced the acquisition of Rayson Simmons, Konstantinos Korontzelou, Diode Hawkins, Giorgos Petanidis and Diego Capelan, and the retention of Loukas Mavrokephalidis and Nikos Arsenopoulos.

“Vangelis Mantzaris will be an Ionian player in the 2022-23 season.
Born on April 16, 1990, the 32-year-old 1.96 guard began his pro career with Peristeri.
The big step was followed by the international career at Olympiakos, where he played for eight years in a row (2011-2019).
During his ‘Red and White’ tenure, he won the Euroleague twice and was an integral part of Dusan Ivkovic and Giorgos Bartzokas’ team. At the same time, he celebrated three championships and a Greek Cup, followed by moves to Russia and Unix Kazan.
His return was for Prometheus’ sake while he later returned to Peristeri. Last season he found his way to Poland from the start
Stal Ostrów and later in Israel with Hapoel Eilat, while his last stop was Thessaloniki and PAOK.
As a member of the youth national team, Mantzaris won the gold medal at the U18 European Championships and the silver medal at the U19 World Championships. He also won gold at the European Youth Championships (2009) and silver at the same event the following season.
This was followed by his participation in the men’s national team, with which he recorded 77 appearances and declared himself “present” at the 2014 World Cup, EuroBasket 2015 and EuroBasket 2017.

“Going into the last calendar bubble this year we clearly understood how important this was for us in terms of tournament position. “Krivbass” were right behind us in the table and “Niko-Basket” were playing at home, so both matches promised to be extremely difficult. Dnepr forward was chosen as the MVP of the tour Vladimir Konev. The leader of the Ukrainian champions helped his team to two confident victories in Nikolaev. He recorded 13 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists (RE 16) in the match against Niko-Basket (96:56) and 18 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists (RE 24) against Kryvbas (77:58).
