Papagiannis’ childhood dream come true and Pavlos Giannakopoulos’ quote
Giorgos Papagiannis took over the captaincy at Panathinaikos and told the ERT camera that it was a childhood dream for him.
Last season, Giorgos Papagiannis took over the role of captain in several Panathinaikos games as Ioannis Papapetrou was absent due to injuries and surgery. This year, however, the 25-year-old center will become permanent in that role, taking on similar responsibilities.
The first was in the friendly match against Anatolou Efes for “Pavlos Giannakopoulos”. This is what he stood for himself when asked about the importance of leadership in the cloverleaf. Because as he explained to the ERT camera, this was a childhood dream for him.
“It was a childhood dream to be the captain of Panathinaikos. I grew up in this club. I know there are duties. Over the years I have always wanted to be a manager. I know what that means. We have to be good in the dressing room so that that can be transferred to the pitch‘ he characteristically said while replying to a question about ‘Pavlos Giannakopoulos’ and the honor of commemorating the club’s emblematic head of administration:
“Unfortunately, I did not often have the opportunity to meet him. I’m going to say something I’ve told almost no one. When he saw me he asked me to love Mr Pavlos, I will love him.”“.
