Lenovo Tenerife wants to continue to grow its showcase
For Lenovo Tenerife and its fans, finishing in the top five of the competition at the end of the regular phase and being a fixture in the title ‘playoffs’ is tempting. For this reason, the project for the 2022/2023 campaign is a bit more ambitious, seeking to compete at the highest level to replicate at least what has been achieved in the last two campaigns.
Chaired by Félix Hernández and led by Txus Vidorreta, the team, as usual, seeks to maintain key parts of the previous campaign and strengthen key positions.
The pair of point guards of Marcelinho Huertas and Bruno Fitipardo worked well and were important in the previous team, and two men who could take part in this project were incorporated into the outside game. Jaime Fernandez (Unikaha) and Elgin Cooke (Tofas Bursa) will share positions with Sass Salin, Joao Sastre and Aaron Dornkamp.
It may be the inside game that Lenovo Tenerife paid a little more attention to finding players who could strengthen the group.
After Wiltjer and Sulejmanovic left, the man known as Tim Abromaitis (Unicaja), Iván Cruz (Río Breogán) and Moussa Diagne (Morabanc Andorra) arrived and, along with Gio Shermadini and Fran Guerra, played the most decisive game of the competition.
It is important to maintain last season’s block, especially the tandem of Huertas and Shelmadini, and now the machine needs to be oiled with new members of the team to perform at the highest level.
Due to the EuroBasket controversy, the team was not finished until a week ago. Jaime Fernandez, who joined last after winning the gold medal in Berlin, had a desire to help the group as soon as possible.
In terms of pre-tournament preparation games, Txus Vidorreta’s team could face fellow team Gran Canaria only twice. We lost the first game (90-92) and won the second (77-91). Lenovo Tenerife’s third game in Getafe this weekend had to be canceled due to unfavorable weather.
The goals remain the same as in the previous season, with Lenovo wanting to join the Copa del Rey in the title ‘play-offs’ and also finish in the top four in the FIBA Champions League. First day of October.
