Cherkasy Mavpy announces new head coach appointment
Ukrainian basketball club “The Cherkasy Mavpi” announced the appointment of a new coach.
The Cherkasy club announced on its official website that the new head coach of the team will be. Georgy Stepenchuk. The basketball career of the new coach “Mavp” began in the army sports club in Kiev. Then he played in the basketball clubs of Ukraine, Bahrain and Romania. He had to stop playing due to his injury.
He started his coaching career in 2001 at Al-Manama BC, Kingdom of Bahrain. He has great managerial experience in Ukrainian clubs. In particular, the Dnieper, the Dnieper-Nitrogen, Kirovograd, the Golden Age. The teams under his leadership became the winners of 4 Asian Cups and Eurocups.
In 2018 Stupenchuk joined Cherkasy Mavpy BC and was a member of the team’s coaching team. Prior to that, Maxim Mikhelson was the head coach of Cherkasy Mavp for 9 seasons.
