Giorgos Printezis called today a “day of remembrance” during the visit of the Olympiacos basketball team to the memorial to the victims of Gate 7.

The Olympiacos basketball team (just after the visit of Panagiotis Angelopoulos) gathered at the memorial of the victims of Thyra 7 on Tuesday afternoon (8/2) to pay tribute to the club’s 21 unfortunate friends.

It’s a memorial day. A sad day, not only for the club, but for the whole country. The fact that it was not possible to hold an official memorial service does not erase anyone from the memory of what happened at the time. Everyone hopes that such incidents will never happen again. Today is not directly related to the subject of alcoholism. These are two different cases, but we all wish that sport never mourns the victims again and that there are never more losses of loved ones.‘ were the words of Red and White leader George Printezis.

As today is one of the most important days in Olympiacos history, not for triumphs, wins and titles but for the loss of 21 people. It’s the saddest day of the year for the Olympiacos family. May we never lose such unjust children again. I believe that we must dedicate a title, a win, to every Olympiacos team in their memory in every sport. To them and their families‘ said George Bartzokas in turn.
