The Bucks equalized the Lakers with 44aras from Giannis
Magic Bucks in LA even led the Lakers by 30 points and took the win 131-116. Giannis Antetokounbo is unstoppable with 44 points, 14 rebounds and 8 assists.
The Bucks were out of a dream. But their dream was the Lakers’ nightmare as Milwaukee celebrated in LA, winning 116-131 in a match that even reached +30.
Giannis Antetokounbo was pleasant, finished the game on 44 points with 17/20 shots (2/2 three points), 8/13 shots, 14 rebounds and 8 assists, Bobby Portis (23 points) and Chris Middleton (21 points) followed and Milwaukee gave no room to the Lakers, escaping early by a double-digit margin and achieving a comfortable win. He thus improved their record to 35-21 and remained in 2nd place in the East, with the first heat having a record of 35-20.
With the Lakers, who now have a 26-29 record, LeBron James had 27 points, Anthony Davis had 22 points, and Malik Monk had 20 points.
The Bucks’ next game is on Friday (11/2) Greek time in Phoenix against the Suns in a repeat of last year’s NBA Finals.
The race
Giannis Antetokunbo started the match violently with stoppers in Westbrook and Davis. And that was just the beginning, having scored 11 of the Bucks’ 17 points for the first 12-17 before going to the bench for air. But even when he was resting, Milwaukee still had the lead, extending it to 15-26, to be precise.
Indeed, Giannis returned to the floor soon after and the difference grew to 16 points (20-36), with the Bucks eventually ending the first period 24-38. As for John? It was – Statistics – (almost) perfect: 13 points of which 4/4 two points, 1/1 three points, 2/4 shots, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 blocks!
The second period started with the Bucks being even better, soon walking away 28-51 and 33-54, with Middleton scoring 18 points and causing terror in LA. In fact, they were so good that Giannis didn’t even make a shot for the first few minutes of the second period and when he came on the bench for a breath they widened the difference further and got away 40-64 with Middleton already having 18 points. And somewhere there, Giannis came back down to earth.
With the “Greek Freak” now taking the weight in attack, the Bucks comfortably maintained their difference to end the first half on goal 56-78. John now had 23 points with 8/8 shots (2/2 three points) and Middleton had 21 points with Milwaukee having fun.
The third third got off to a slow start for both teams. This was true, however, until Bobby Portis suddenly caught fire, aiming for three collected threes and taking the difference to 30 points (69-99) while Giannis simultaneously managed 27 points.
The Lakers responded with an 8-0 streak to reduce to 77-99, but Milwaukee continued to have the upper hand in the match, eventually finishing the third period earlier with 85-109 with Giannis already having 31 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists.
The fourth period began with the Lakers struggling to turn the game and reduce it to 96-115. And they didn’t stay there as – despite the fact that LeBron went to the bench for a breather – they continued their counterattack and narrowed the difference to 12 points (108-118) 5 minutes before the game’s finale when he fell back. James in match. But they wouldn’t do anything else.
The Bucks responded immediately with a 7-1 split to go 109-125, showing control of the game. The Lakers kept fighting, dropping to 116-127, but in the end they couldn’t look more threatening.
