Former NBA basketball player charged with assaulting son over dropped book

Former NBA basketball player Ben Gordon has been charged with assaulting his own son and resisting police, the Associated Press reports.
Witnesses say Gordon yelled at his 10-year-old son at a New York airport on Monday and punched him several times in the face for dropping a book from his hands. Later, the ex-athlete attacked the police during the arrest.
Gordon is charged with assault, resisting police and endangering a child. The trial of the 39-year-old American will take place on Friday.
Gordon spent 11 seasons in the NBA with Chicago, Detroit, Charlotte, and Orlando.
