Valery PLEKHANOV: “The most important thing was to win”
Budivelnik Kyiv head coach Valeriy Plekhanov praised the team’s victory over Italian club Brindisi in the group stage of the FIBA Europe Cup.
“We were a little worried before the game because we hadn’t had any practice since the night we played against Bamberg. We had a hard time getting out of the Champions League, we were disappointed.
Today was tough, we played against a really good team that the fans put forward. I really liked the first half and didn’t really like the second. At some point, we started to take losses, usually on a regular basis. But we managed to get into the key moments, we showed character. Now the most important thing was just to win, to feel confident and our mistakes were secondary. We will fix them,” Plekhanov admitted.
In the next round of the tournament, Budivelnik will play against BC Kalev-Kramo on October 19. The match, which will be hosted by the Kyiv club, will be played in Rome.
